Where did the name CasRad originate?
Just the other day someone asked me the name of my art studio and I replied, “CasRad Art Studio”. The person stared at me and said that was a rather odd sounding name. And I had to agree with him, until you know the backstory.
A college roommate gave birth to the phrase, “Casual Radical” or “CasRad” to describe a thought process or a way of living. I’ve always been partial to the idea. So when I created my studio name, I asked him if I could use his phrase as my name. And he said, “go for it.”
My Casual Radical approach to painting is found in my expressive use of color and meaningful brush work. It also encompasses my approach to sales of my work. For any art sold, I donate a portion of the sale price to charity/nonprofits that I support. I believe art has a place in the world that can help others.
If it’s right to do right, then it’s smart to do right. Right here from the most beautiful city on the planet: Nolensville, TN.
